Coverage

The warranty,
in plain
English.

Written so you can actually read it before you buy. Below is what's covered, what isn't, how to file, and how long we take. The full legal document is linked at the bottom — this page is the honest summary of it, not a replacement for it.

What's covered

The warranty covers manufacturing defects and material failure — the film not doing what film is supposed to do. Specifically:

  • Yellowing — discoloration of clear film from UV exposure
  • Cracking — the film splitting or crazing under normal use
  • Bubbling — bubbles forming after the initial cure period has passed
  • Delamination — layers of the film separating from each other
  • Adhesive failure — the film lifting from a properly prepared surface
  • Loss of self-healing — the topcoat no longer closing light swirls with heat
  • Window film only: color change, purpling, and demetallizing

Labor is included. On an approved claim we ship replacement film at no cost and cover the installer's labor to replace the affected panels, at that shop's posted rate, up to the panel count on your original invoice. You should not be paying out of pocket to fix a film failure.

What's not covered

Read this part carefully

Most warranty disputes in this industry come from expectations, not bad faith. Here is exactly where our coverage stops.

  • Impact damage. Film is sacrificial — it's designed to take a rock strike so your paint doesn't. A chip, tear or scuff from an impact is the film doing its job, not failing at it.
  • Deep scratches. Self-healing closes light swirls and fine marks. A scratch that cuts through the topcoat into the base layer will not heal and is not a defect.
  • Improper care. Pressure washing close to an edge, abrasive polishes, harsh solvents, automatic washes with hard brushes, and letting contaminants sit on hot panels.
  • Installation errors. These are the installing shop's responsibility, not ours — but tell us anyway. If a dealer is producing bad installs we want to know, and we'll work with you and them to resolve it.
  • Pre-existing paint condition. Film applied over failing clear coat, aftermarket paint that wasn't properly cured, or previously repaired panels.
  • Removal and reinstallation. Film that has been taken off and put back on is no longer covered.
  • Commercial and fleet vehicles beyond a shortened term — ask your installer for the applicable period before the job.
  • Vehicles that have changed hands more than once, or any transfer on non-transferable products above.

How to file a claim

Start with your installer. They file with us on your behalf — that's the whole point of buying from an authorized dealer, and it's why you shouldn't have to chase a manufacturer in another state while your vehicle sits.

Step 01

Call your installer

The shop that did the work. They have the install date, the VIN registration and the original panel count on file. If they've closed, contact us directly.

Step 02

Photos and details

Your installer sends us clear photos of the affected area in daylight, the VIN, the install date, and a short description. Wide shot plus close-up.

Step 03

Decision in 3 days

We approve or deny within three business days. On approval, replacement film ships at no cost and your installer schedules the replacement.

If a claim is denied we tell you why, in writing, with the specific exclusion it falls under. If you disagree, ask for a second review — we'd rather look at it twice than lose a customer over a judgment call.

Registration

Your warranty is registered against your VIN by the installing shop at the time of install. There is nothing for you to mail in, no card to keep in the glovebox, and no online account to create. If you want confirmation that your vehicle is registered, ask your installer or email us the VIN.

Transferring the warranty

FORM-Gloss, FAZE-Satin and TUNE-Color carry a one-time transfer to a private buyer. Email us the VIN, the sale date and the new owner's contact information within 30 days of the sale. There is no transfer fee. Dealer-to-dealer and fleet transfers are not covered.

Common questions

My film has a rock chip. Is that covered?

No, and that's by design. Paint protection film is sacrificial — it absorbed an impact that would otherwise have chipped your paint. That's the product working. Your installer can replace an individual panel at their normal rate.

I see small bubbles a week after install.

Normal, usually. Installation moisture takes time to evaporate through the film, and small bubbles or a hazy look typically clear within two to four weeks depending on temperature. If they're still there after a month, call your installer.

The edges look slightly lifted.

Call your installer promptly. Early edge lift is usually an installation issue and is generally straightforward to fix if caught quickly. Left alone, dirt gets under the edge and the panel has to be redone.

My installer went out of business.

Contact us directly with your VIN and install date. If the vehicle is registered, we'll verify coverage and route the work to the nearest authorized dealer.

Does the warranty cover my paint underneath?

No. The warranty covers our film. It does not cover the vehicle's paint, and it does not cover damage to paint that was already failing before the film went on. This is standard across the industry.

I'm a shop. How do I file for a customer?

Email your rep or info@tailoredpf.com with photos, VIN, install date and original invoice number. Decision within three business days, replacement film shipped at no cost on approval, labor reimbursed at your posted rate.

This page is a plain-language summary for convenience. The full limited warranty document governs all claims and is available from your installing dealer or by request at info@tailoredpf.com. Terms vary by product, application surface and region.
